Jogo Behaviour Support Conference 2014

Wow, what an amazing day.  Our first annual conference was a roaring success.  We had over 120 people attend, inspiring speakers and great food, all set in the beautiful grounds of Sedgebrook Hall in Northamptonshire.  We had people come from far and wide including Nottingham, Brighton and Northern Ireland.

With the help from the students from University College Northampton, the day ran smoothly.  Matt, Grace, Sou, Will and Shen met, greeted, organised, photographed, guided and answered any queries throughout the day.

We opened the day with a brief welcome before moving to our first keynote speaker, Dr Tina Rae.  Dr Rae explored the subject of building resilience with children and young people.  She was honest and funny, whilst providing practical strategies with a clear theoretical basis. What an awe inspiring keynote speech.

"Very informative. Great main speakers. Learnt lots to take back to school and use in personal life.  Thank you."

Following Dr Rae, David Taransaud gave us a dynamic and inspirational key note speech about working with wounded children and young people.

This is one attendee's view of David's keynote speech.
"I would like to say that Dr Taransaud evoked such emotions in me with his seminar that I will be going away to re evaluate my direction as a professional and how I can make a difference in young people's lives."
Following a delicious hot lunch with yummy puddings, attendees had an opportunity to attend two workshops from a choice of five.  These included

These brief workshops provided practical strategies and interventions to support practitioners in helping, developing and encouraging children and young people to reach their potential.

Finally to draw the day to a close, we had a free prize draw with generous prizes from Sarah Miles at Hinton House Publishers and Play Therapy Support.  An incredible day had by all.
"Very well organised event. Keynote speakers of a very high quality. Definitely value for money and looking forward to next year already!"
Talking about next year, we have Marie Delaney (Teaching the Unteachable) as one of our keynote speakers and the date is booked for Friday 20th March 2015 at Sedgebrook Hall, Northampton.  For further information, please check out our website.

 Testimonials from the Conference

"I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for the event on Friday...I found it very inspiring, and came away not only with practical strategies but also a renewed sense of passion for the work that we all do with young people. I was fortunate enough to hear both Tina and David speak twice, and they were excellent. I very much look forward to next year’s conference, and hopefully I will be able to bring more members of my team with me."

"Having attended your National Conference last week I just wanted to say how inspiring the speakers were.  The whole day was interesting, informative and thoroughly enjoyable.  It was also a fantastic opportunity to meet other people who aren't teachers too.  Please make sure my name is on your list for next year.  Well Done to all of your involved!"
